Ultimate Remedy for Chapped Lips

Ultimate Remedy for Chapped Lips

No matter how awesome your lip colour is it doesn’t matter if you have cracked lips. Indeed, cracked lips is a lip junkie’s nightmare wouldn’t you agree?

There are many factors that cause this which is why it is important to take special attention to your lip care routine in order to combat these factors. Some of the common factors that affect the condition of your lips are wind, heat, dry air and cold weather.

Protecting your lips from these external factors can help prevent chapped lips, ensuring that they’ll look healthy and plump so you can wear your favourite lippy with more fervour day after day. Keeping your lippies moisturised also makes it more kissable, right? So, how do you keep your lips to look moist, plump and healthy?

Here are 4 essential steps to keep those lips of yours look healthy and kissable!

  1. Exfoliate Your Lips. Exfoliating your lips is an important step in keeping them healthy. To exfoliate your lips the right way, use a lip scrub and carefully swipe it back and forth to remove flaky and dead skin from the surface of your lips. This results in a smoother surface making it easier to apply a balm to moisturise your lips after exfoliation. However, make sure not to over exfoliate them as this could also lead to dryness as well as irritation.

Here is a great exfoliating lip scrub that contains shea butter as well as jojoba oil to remove unwanted flaky skin from the surface to keep your lippy soft and smooth to touch:

  1. Moisturise Your Lips. Using your favourite lip balm to moisturise your lips after exfoliation is important to keep it from chapping further. It’s also important to choose the right balm for your lippy and it must contain healthy as well as safe ingredients to effectively nourish and moisturise your lips. Some ingredients that provide moisture and hydration to your lips are cacao butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, macadamia nut oil, shea butter, seed oils as well as other plant-based butters.

Love Thyself offers several lip balms that contain only plant-based ingredients that keep your lips moisturised throughout the day. Take a closer look at these products and see if you may want to get these for your daily lip care routine.

  1. Apply a Second Lip Balm to Seal in the Moisture. After applying the first balm on your lippy and once it’s fully moisturised, you can add a second balm that is wax-based to seal in the moisture. This step ensures that the moisture is locked in for longer to keep them hydrated throughout the day.

Here are wax-based balms that you may want to purchase for this purpose:

I searched for lip balm with natural ingredients, non-GMO, no parabens and found Eco Lips. It protects and heal chapped lips. I highly recommend their peppermint lip balm!
