After a tiring day at work, do you usually have a skincare routine before you go to bed? People often wonder why they have blemishes or why their skin looks tired and dull even after washing their face and worse, look older than your age.
Actually, it isn’t enough to simply wash and cleanse your face because what you need in order to minimise the chances of blemishes, tired or dull skin and other minor skin problems is to follow a good skincare routine before calling it a night.
Cleanse with a Facial Wash
Cleansing your face thoroughly is important to keep your skin younger, clean and healthy. This also allows you to remove the makeup and dirt you’re skin has accumulated throughout the day.
Use a facial wash that deeply cleanses your face and helps to remove the unnecessary muck that shouldn’t be there before you sleep.
For those with sensitive skin, go with a facial wash that gently cleanses and contains natural or organic ingredients so your skin doesn’t react negatively to synthetic ingredients. Yes, most of the time our skin tells us that we’re probably better off than using common products that contain toxins.
Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week
Exfoliating your skin at least once or twice a week really helps remove the dead skin cells and encourage cell turnover to keep your skin younger and healthier.
You can choose whether a good exfoliating scrub is what is suitable for your skin especially when you are sensitive. You can opt for a washcloth, loofah or brush for exfoliation as well depending on your preference.
Double the Cleanse with a Cleansing Oil or Water
Most of the time you may think that washing your face gets rid of all the makeup leftovers and dirt but sometimes it’s really difficult to remove them with a facial wash alone.
A cleansing oil or water helps keep your skin hydrated and most importantly, effectively removes leftover dirt from your face.
I’ve experienced this all the time since some makeup products are difficult to remove so a natural cleansing water or oil would do the trick in removing them whilst nourishing your skin.
Nourish your skin with a Serum
Choose a night serum that is well-suited for your skin. To find a good serum, look for one that contains ingredients like vitamins C, vitamin b5, hyaluronic acid, pomegranate, DMAE, Rooibos Tea Extract and MSM.
Serums are not the same as moisturisers. There are certain benefits that you get from serums and not in moisturisers. They help improve your skin’s defenses, improve texture and elasticity as well as restore your skin’s youthful glow with antioxidants and vitamins.
Apply Eye Cream
You need to do something about the dark circles beneath those beautiful eyes. If you don’t have it yet then you’re one of the lucky ones but for those who have it, don’t forget to apply a good eye cream to keep the under eye area hydrated. This also helps to keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay.
Apply a Moisturiser
After your serum keeps your skin hydrated by applying a moisturiser even if you have oily skin, know that it’s perfectly a good idea to use a moisturiser still. Sometimes the cause of oily skin is due to lack of moisture or dehydration so in turn, it produces too much oil to compensate for the lack of hydration.
Now that you have all these tips to give you a good skincare routine before going to bed, we’re confident that you can improve the condition of your skin by simply following these tips. So, say goodbye to lacklustre and dull skin and prepare yourself for compliments coming your way!
